Dr Batiashvili joined the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (SIAS) in 2016 as a visiting postdoctoral researcher in Georgian Studies. She received her PhD (2014) in Anthropology from Washington University in St Louis. Her doctoral research is situated at the intersection of cultural anthropology, political anthropology, interdisciplinary memory studies, linguistic anthropology, studies of nationalism and post Soviet transformation.
