DPhil in Area Studies (Russia and East Europe)
My research focuses on civil society in Russia and Eastern Europe. My master's thesis was on Soviet hockey, examining the ways in which sport is used to construct broader ideological frameworks. My undergraduate work focused on historical narratives in the Russian education system.
I completed an MA in Applied and Interdisciplinary History at the Higher School of Economics (Saint Petersburg, Russia), and a BA in History and Classics at McMaster University (Hamilton, Canada).
